This little house is in a terrace of fisherman's cottages some thirty feet from
the Exe estuary, which at this point is about a mile wide. Although quite
small, with three bedrooms it will sleep five people in comfort. It
provides an ideal base from which to sample the delights of this area.
Narrow streets, colour washed
cottages decked in flowers and cobbled walks leading to the pebbled shore of the
Exe estuary make Lympstone a favourite haunt. On one of the narrow lanes
just 10yards from the shore is Cygnet Cottage. The original cottages are
350 years old and were once fishermens' homes. The two downstairs rooms
are small but inviting and nicely furnished. A short flight of stairs
leads to a double bedroom with a brass bedstead, small bedroom and bathroom.
Doors from both the double bedroom and bathroom open onto steep and narrow
stairs to the twin bedroom on the top floor from which you can see the estuary.
Shops and friendly local pubs are all within 300 yards, as is the single line
train station with a regular service to both Exmouth and the rest of the British
Rail network at Exeter mainline station. There are picturesque walks along
the estuary; home to swans, wild flowers and waders including avocets. The
golden sandy beach at Exmouth is about 3 miles away.
The accommodation comprises:
Ground Floor: Lounge (with radio, television and video recorder) and kitchen diner with
electric cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave etc and central stairs to...
First Floor: Large bedroom with double bed. Small bedroom with single bed
and bathroom, with bath, shower attachment, toilet and washbasin and electric razor
plug and short narrow stairs to...
Second Floor: Bedroom with two
single beds.
The cottage can sleep five, and there are pillows and duvets available for two
single beds, and blankets for the remaining beds. But let us know if you
want something different.
